That is easy to toss them and grab a new pair from the mall, but imagine what if they are your favorite custom socks or valuable ones that might involved in your story, as you're about to pull them on and you notice a hole in the toe, will you think over another choice? So, here comes the time to know how to mend socks. Learning how to mend socks is not difficult and doesn't require a sewing machine or any great talent with a needle and thread. It just take you a few minutes, and you can have your sock on your foot and it will be almost as good as new, of course, save some cash and make you more eco friendly. What you'll need to mend socks: Needle Thread which preferably matches the color of the sock A pair of Scissors A light bulb that can fit inside a sock A rubber bang And follow the steps blow: Step 1: Turn the sock inside out. Just like when you mend clothing, you won’t want your stitching skills to be seen and make the mended sock look more natural. Step 2: Put the light bulb into the sock, centering it on the hole. Then tighten it with the rubber band, not stretching it, but just enough that the fabric stays fairly taut. Step 3: Thread your needle. Make sure you have enough thread. Two arms lengths will be good to start with. Remember leave the tail untied. Step 4: Using a running stitch, start at the bottom of the hole, about 1.5cm away from the edge and run stitches horizontally across until you are about 1.5cm on the other side of the hole. Stitch continual, going back and forth, until the hole has completely been covered so that you will have a base to weave through. Step 5: Now turn your sock 90 degrees, and start to weave in and out of the strands of the base you just stitched. Then run stitches from the top to the bottom till the hole is closed up, which will create weaved effect. Step 6: Turn the sock right side in and try it on.
